Lawrence County Emergency Management Department

The Lawrence County Emergency Management Department has broad discretion, functions in Emergency Management. Performing functions of planning, organization, coordination, training, equipment, and facility reviews relative to disaster response and preparations.

Lawrence County Emergency Management also coordinates and manages the Lawrence County Search and Rescue Team.

Lawrence County Local Emergency Planning Committee

The Lawrence County Local Emergency Planning Committee was established pursuant to Title III, of the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act, (SARA). The Governor of South Dakota designated a State Emergency Act (SARA) to implement a hazardous materials emergency response program. The Lawrence County Local Emergency Planning Committee meets quarterly to review hazardous material spills, storage facilities, and other relative business. The public is invited to attend.
