providing a statewide sex offender registry. Therefore, Lawrence County will no
longer be listing registered sex offenders residing in the County. Please proceed to

Registration
The Sexual Offender Registration Listing information shall
not be used to retaliate against the registrants, their families, or their employers in
any way. Vandalism, verbal or written threats are illegal and will result in arrest and
prosecution. SDCL 22-22-41
states that "Any person who commits any crime as a result of information gained
through the sex offender registry or through public information kept pursuant to SDCL 22-22-40
is guilty of a Class 6 felony. Such liability is in addition to any other civil or
criminal penalties". Violation is a felony punishable by 2 years in the state
penitentiary or a $2000.00 fine or both.
